Pagoda — Support
Pagoda is a training log for strength work, with meal planning and guided stretching alongside it. This page is where to start if something is wrong.
Contact: minkotn@icloud.com — a real address, read by the person who makes the app.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
Yes. Pagoda asks you to sign in when you first open it.
The account is what keeps your training on every device you use, and what means a lost or replaced phone does not take your history with it. Once you are signed in the app works offline — it reads and writes the copy on your phone first, and catches up with the server when there is a signal.
You can sign in with Apple, which does not require giving us an email address directly.
Where is my data?
On your phone, and on the server so your other devices can read it — see the privacy policy.
I signed in and my history disappeared
It has not been deleted. Each account has its own workspace, so signing into a different account shows that account's training rather than the previous one's. Sign back into the original account and it returns.
If you had history before signing in for the first time, it is claimed by that first account automatically.
I used Sign in with Apple and it made a new account
Almost certainly Hide My Email. If you chose that on the Apple sheet, Apple gives us a relay address ending @privaterelay.appleid.com instead of your own — so there is no way for us to tell that it belongs to the same person as an account you made with your real address. A new account is created, and it starts empty.
Nothing is lost. Your training is still on the original account: sign out, then sign back in the same way you first signed up, and it comes back.
The general rule: sign in the way you signed up. Apple, Google and email are three separate identities, and an app cannot safely merge them on its own — guessing that two logins are the same person is how one person's training ends up in someone else's account.
Sign in with Apple works perfectly well as your only method. It is mixing methods on one set of data that causes this.
The rest timer notification never appeared
Check that notifications are allowed for Pagoda in iOS Settings.
Worth knowing: a finished-rest banner is shown and not filed in Notification Center, deliberately — a "rest finished" found twenty minutes later is noise rather than information. So an empty Notification Center is not evidence that it failed. The banner only appears live.
Why can't I start a workout without a routine?
Because a routine is how you decide what to do before you are standing in the gym deciding. Write one — it can be nothing more than a list of exercises in an order, with no targets at all — and start from it. You can also repeat your last workout in one tap.
Some exercises have no picture
Coverage is partial and growing. An exercise with no drawing simply shows none rather than a placeholder.
What is Pagoda Membership?
A monthly subscription that opens two further parts of the app — planning what you eat, and how you recover — and lifts the limit on saved routines. You can start one from either the Food or the Unwind tab, and the price and terms are shown there before anything is charged.
Training, history and progress are not part of it. They are free and uncapped whether you subscribe or not.
How do I cancel?
In your Apple Account settings, not in this app — Apple runs the billing, so they are the only ones who can stop it. Settings → your name → Subscriptions on an iPhone. Cancelling leaves you a member until the period you have already paid for runs out.
Nothing you have logged is affected by cancelling. Routines you saved over the free limit stay where they are, visible and usable; you simply cannot add a new one until you are under the limit again.
I subscribed but the tabs are still locked
Give it a few seconds and reopen the tab. A purchase is confirmed on our server rather than on the phone, so there is a short gap between paying and the tabs opening — usually a second or two, longer on a poor connection.
If it has not opened after a minute, tap Restore purchases on either tab. If it still has not, email us and we will sort it out.
I changed phones and lost my membership
Sign in to the same account and tap Restore purchases on the Food or Unwind tab. Membership belongs to your account rather than to a handset, so it follows you — but the new device may need to be told to go and look.
How many routines can I save?
Four on the free plan, and as many as you like with membership. Everything else about training — sessions, sets, history, charts, personal bests — is uncapped either way and always will be.
How do I delete everything?
Profile → delete account. That removes your data from the server and deletes the account, and it cannot be undone.
Deleting the app on its own only removes the copy on the phone.
Reporting a problem
Email minkotn@icloud.com. It helps to include:
- What you were doing when it happened
- Your iOS version and iPhone model
- The email address on your account
If the app crashed, say what screen you were on. There is no crash reporting in Pagoda — by design, since it would mean adding a tracking SDK — so a description from you is genuinely the only way a crash is ever found out about.
